Interior Design
A custom-designed interior will enhance the appearance and marketability of your book. From the front matter to the font size, our professional designers give attention to every aspect of your book’s interior. Our Interior Design service, which is part of all our publishing programs, starts with your ideas and includes:
- Professional structuring and design of front and back matter, including forwards, prefaces, Tables of Contents, dedications, indexes, and glossaries.
- Custom styling of chapter titles, headers, and footers.
- Selection of fonts that best match your vision and the book’s genre.
- Resizing and positioning of up to 10 black-and-white images within the text.
Individual and additional services
Interior Design can be performed without other services, but most authors take advantage of one of our publishing programs, which include Interior Design as well as other basic publishing services. If you are interested in only our Interior Design services, please contact us to discuss the details.
To supplement the Interior Design services included in our publishing programs, we also offer the following services.
Additional images
$10 per image
The use of more than 10 images in your book's interior will be handled at a charge of $10 per image. This includes resizing and positioning each image exactly where you want it in the text.
Tables
$20 per table
The use of tables requires specific and unique handling. Since not every book requires tables, we do not include the cost for handling them in our base fee. Our designers will take your supplied tables and ensure that each row and column is typeset properly, matching your original table submission.
Image enhancement and manipulation
$20 per image
If you need any work done on an image to improve its appearance and presentation, beyond the resizing included in the base fee, our designers can accommodate your needs. Enhancement and manipulation services include:
- • Retouches and repairs
- • Silhouettes, cutouts, and masks
- • Vector image repairs and adjustments
- • Image colorization or grayscale correction
- • Text effects
- • Artistic effects
- • Background effects
- • Crops
Footnotes or endnotes
$2 per item
In order to properly support your work with citations or reference or to expand upon items in the main body of text, the use of footnotes, endnotes, or both may be appropriate. Our designers and editors will work with you to determine the appropriate use and presentation of these critical entries.
What trim sizes are available?
All PublishNext services and prices are based upon standard book trim sizes of 5.5" x 8.5" and 6" x 9" with black text on white 50 lb. book paper. Other trim sizes, paper, and full-color text are available, but may involve additional cost.
