Cover Design
Despite the old saying, “You can’t judge a book by its cover,” a book cover is a crucial marketing tool. When a potential reader comes across your book, the cover has only a few seconds to convince that person to take a closer look. While a cover isn’t everything, a poorly designed cover will surely turn off a potential reader. Your cover design can be the single most important step in making your book appeal to your target audience, ultimately determining its success.
All PublishNext books receive custom-designed covers.
In today’s digital marketplace, your cover is even more important. Thumbnail images displayed online must look as appealing as the full-sized book. The cover design must be compelling, and it must be consistent with all other marketing material.
Cover design starts with you:
- • Provide us with any sketches, drawings, or prior cover designs that you have for your book.
- • Explain your thoughts on the style, theme, or message you want to convey with the cover.
- • Provide us with any art you would like to use on the cover.
- • We will use royalty-free images if you have no cover art or if we need to supplement what you provide.
- • Provide us with a photo of yourself, other images, and any review excerpts you want to incorporate on the back cover (all are optional).
We will write marketing copy and help you put together a short author bio for the back cover. We will then provide you with at least two initial versions of the cover design for your review, comments, and corrections. After you select the cover design you want us to use, we will make necessary revisions to perfect your cover.
Additional revisions and custom artwork
If you require cover design services beyond what is included in our publishing programs—for example, a photo shoot, custom artwork, or additional versions or revisions—we will work with you to come up with a plan within your budget.
